What We've Been Building: The Text2Resume Builder That Lets You Actually Chat With Your Resume

We've been quietly building something that we think does justice to what Creddle started, and then some. Here's a walkthrough of what we actually built: 20+ typefaces, pixel-perfect layout controls, frontier AI models, and an AI agent named Rezzy who can modify your resume through conversation.

Product Features

When Creddle shut down in December 2024, it left a gap in the resume builder space. Creddle understood something important: job seekers need creative control without sacrificing professionalism. They need to see changes in real-time. They need things to just work.

We've spent the past year building Text2Resume with that philosophy in mind, but we've also asked: what would Creddle have built if it had access to today's AI capabilities? This post walks through what we came up with.

What Made Creddle Special

Creddle's original landing page promised things that most resume builders still can't deliver. We took their promises seriously and built direct answers to each one:

Creddle SaidWe Built
"Be creative and stand out. Stay professional and organized."20+ typefaces, granular color controls, background fills, single/two-column layouts
"Powerful Customization - Change headers. Add color. Move sections."Independent controls for every element: name, sections, headings, body, dates, contact, each with size AND weight
"Automatic One-Page Fit - while keeping relative font sizes consistent"Real-time preview as you adjust, pixel-perfect spacing controls, margin controls in inches
"Share it on the web / Embed it on your own website / Print it as a .pdf"PDF export, web preview, shareable links
"The template is just the beginning"Layout tools that go beyond templates: column modes, header alignment, contact layouts, skill display styles

Things Creddle Couldn't Do (That We Can)

  • Import jobs from any URL (LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, and 20+ more job boards)
  • Chat with your resume using AI that directly modifies your document
  • Get AI suggestions tailored to specific job postings you're targeting
  • Choose from frontier AI models (GPT-5.1, Gemini 3, Claude Opus 4.5)
  • Import resumes from images or LinkedIn profiles

First Principles We Kept

  • No photo uploads (same reasoning as Creddle: bias and discrimination prevention)
  • No DOCX export (same reasoning: formatting accuracy matters more than format flexibility)
  • Browser-based, no downloads required (your resume lives in the cloud, ready when you are)

Import Jobs From Anywhere

Job targeting is the core of effective resume optimization. We built a system that can import jobs from 24+ job boards - just paste the URL and watch it work. LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, you name it.

The import shows real-time streaming updates so you can see exactly what's happening. AI extracts the job description along with metadata like salary range, location, company info, and required qualifications. And if you paste the same job twice, deduplication kicks in so no duplicate jobs clutter your list.

Why does this matter? Because a resume optimized for a specific job posting performs dramatically better than a generic resume. And importing the job takes about 5 seconds.

Your Resume, Your Way In

We wanted to eliminate the friction of getting your resume into the system. So we built multiple import paths:

  • LinkedIn profile import: just paste your profile URL (linkedin.com/in/username) and we pull your experience, education, and skills
  • Image upload: yes, even a photo of a printed resume works. Vision AI extracts the text and structures it.
  • PDF/DOCX/TXT parsing: upload your existing resume file and we'll parse it intelligently

The AI structures everything automatically: job titles, companies, dates, bullet points, skills categories. You can always adjust after, but most people find the automatic structure is pretty close to what they want.

Layout Controls That Would Make Creddle Proud

This is where we got a little obsessive. The Style Panel gives you control over every visual element of your resume, and changes show up immediately in the preview.

Typography

20+ typefaces including Geist, Barlow, Instrument Sans, Times New Roman, and Computer Modern (for the LaTeX lovers). Each text element (name, contact info, section titles, headings, subheadings, body text, dates) has independent size and weight controls. Want your name at 28pt bold 700 but your section titles at 14pt semibold 600? Done.

Bullet style picker lets you choose circles, squares, dashes, or other markers. Small detail, big impact on the feel of your resume.

Colors

Individual color controls for name, section titles, contact info, and accent elements. Background fills with options for none, full page, left half, right half, or header only. Document backdrop color for that extra touch of personality.

Layout

  • Single column vs two-column mode
  • Adjustable column width (30-70%)
  • Header alignment (left/center/right)
  • Contact layout (single-line vs two-lines)
  • Icons on/off for contact info
  • Skills display (badges vs comma-separated)

Spacing

Pixel-perfect control over spacing between section items, bullets, sections, and title-to-content gaps. Page margins are set in inches (yes, actual inches) because we're serious about print output. When you export to PDF, it looks exactly like the preview.

AI Edits: Choose Your Fighter

This is where things get interesting. We integrated multiple frontier AI models and let you choose which one to use for optimizing your resume. Different models have different strengths: some are faster, some are more thorough, some handle specific industries better.

Frontier Models Available

  • Gemini 3 Pro Preview (adjustable thinking: none/low/high)
  • GPT-5.1 (reasoning levels: none/low/medium/high)
  • GPT-5 Mini (fast, affordable, still smart)
  • Claude Sonnet 4.5 (extended thinking with 16K token budget)
  • Claude Opus 4.5 (highest intelligence tier)
  • Claude Haiku 4.5 (Sonnet-level performance at 3x lower cost)

How It Works

Select a job, select a resume, pick your model. The AI analyzes both and generates targeted suggestions. We have 16 different suggestion types covering skills additions, experience enhancements, project refinements, and grammar fixes.

Suggestions preview with highlighting (green for additions, yellow for updates). You can accept them individually or batch accept all. Changes are completely non-destructive until you confirm. Don't like a suggestion? Just don't accept it.

The Philosophy Behind Our AI

We built this to respect your actual experience. The AI system has guardrails:

  • Can't fabricate education or certifications (only suggest removing irrelevant ones)
  • Can't invent projects you didn't build (only reframe how you describe what you actually did)
  • Skills suggestions are based on what your experience demonstrates
  • Bullet optimization focuses on quantifiable metrics and concrete achievements

Your resume should represent you, just a better-articulated version of you.

Meet Rezzy: Yes, You Can Actually Chat With Your Resume Now

This is the big one. Rezzy is a full conversational AI agent with 29 tools at its disposal: 23 content tools that modify what your resume says, and 6 layout tools that modify how it looks.

You can give natural language commands like "make the headings bigger", "switch to two columns", "add Python to my skills", or "rewrite my first bullet point to emphasize the business impact". Rezzy understands context, so if you have a target job selected, it factors that into its suggestions.

What Rezzy Can Do

Content tools: add/remove/rename skills and skill categories, add/update/remove experience bullets, add/update/remove entire positions, manage project details, update descriptions.

Layout tools: typography adjustments, color changes, background modifications, spacing tweaks, margin controls, column structure changes.

The Approval Workflow

Every change Rezzy proposes shows up as a card you can preview. You see exactly what will change before anything happens. Accept or reject individual changes, or accept all at once. Nothing becomes permanent until you say so.

What Makes This Different

Rezzy modifies your resume document directly, with layout and content changes from the same conversation.

Pricing: Keeping the Spirit Alive

Creddle charged $5 flat, which was pretty radical for its time. We use a credit system where AI edits cost 1-50 credits depending on the model (cheaper models = fewer credits, frontier models = more credits). But here's the thing:

  • Layout controls = free
  • Manual editing = free
  • Job imports = free
  • Resume imports = free
  • PDF export = free

The paid features are the AI features. Everything else is yours to use without limits. We think that's fair - you're paying for compute when you use it, not for access to the tool itself.

What's Next

We're working on ATS scoring (see how your resume ranks before you submit), cover letter generation that actually matches your resume's voice, and deeper job board integrations. But that's for future posts.

For now, if you're looking for a resume builder that gives you real control over how your resume looks and how AI helps you improve it, we built this for you.
